The very first challenge that any blogger or webmaster has to face is getting traffic to a site. Depending on the kind of blog you maintain there’s a particular kind of traffic that you want to attract. There’s also a particular promotional method that you have to do. This includes search engine marketing, social media marketing, bum marketing, and the money requiring PPC or pay-per-click marketing.
For instance if you’re merely writing for a personal blog where you only want other people to read about your personal thoughts then it would just be okay to get traffic from community sites such as Entrecard. You can also get traffic from other social media sites such as Plurk, Twitter, MyBloglog, and Blogcatalog.
But if you’re promoting affiliate products you certainly want visitors that are interested with what you offer and are ready to make an action or buy what you recommend. I’ve been reading lots of ways to possibly achieve this kind of traffic but as of now I got interested with SEM or search engine marketing.
As defined by Wikipedia, SEM is simply promoting your site by increasing it’s visibility in search engine result pages (SERPs). SEM methods include: search engine optimization (SEO), paid placement (pay-per-click), and paid inclusion.
I’d only be doing the SEO part here and not on the paid ones. The SEO part may include keyword optimization, article or bum marketing, backlinking, and then some social marketing.
In the following days or even months I’ll be making experiments about SEM. I’d be promoting some affiliate products including some from Pepperjamnetwork. Another objective with this endeavor is to target for keywords that could increase adsense earnings. I’ll be reporting whatever methods I’ve done and whatever outcome I’d be seeing.
