I’ve been researching on some topics about search engine optimization (SEO) when I came across a group of make money online bloggers playing a mini SEO contest around the keyword pinay scandal. It was started around October last year by macuha.com.
Their objective is to compete with porn webmasters on the search engine placement with the hope of getting the first page for the pinay scandal keyword . I even read a blogger stating that with this campaign they hope to deter scandalous surfers from reaching the scandalous sites. Hehehe… Remember that surfers are smart people too.
Some bloggers call this SEO technique as keyword hijacking – writing around a highly searched keyword which is totally non-related on your blogs content, topic, or niche in an attempt to drive traffic. I don’t know if this is okay but one of the immediate effects is that your Google ads will not show as I observed from their posts.
How do they do it? They write a single post using that keyword and then exchange links with each other. When unexpected surfers reach the post they surprise them with opening paragraphs like “I know why you’re here… You’re looking for Pinay Scandals, aren’t you?” You can read this example from pinoyblogero.com.
I typed pinay scandal on both Google and Yahoo and indeed some of the bloggers involve in this game such as selaplana.com, macuha.com, and pinoyblogero.com are enjoying a first page presence. Wow, what a ingenious way to generate traffic to your site.
Updated: May 23, 2009. I was a total beginner when I wrote this post. Now, I realized that it’s a sore in the eye seeing totally unrelated search queries just bloating your traffic stats. People who are serious in searching for scandalous materials will just leave your site. They are more interested in sex than in making money online anyway, lol.. And as I said above, surfers are smart and intelligent people, they’ll always find a way around.
Hijacking totally unrelated keywords (especially topics as this one) to niches like make money online or internet marketing is not actually a good SEO practice especially for the long term SEO benefits.

Yes you may try but be careful… it can hurt your Adsense earnings for the day because of the porn-related keywords.
